- Front walks and entry steps: note visible buildup, leaf residue and stained sections on the usual route to and from the house.
- Driveways and parking areas: identify the spaces that can be cleared of vehicles and the hours they need to remain accessible.
- Patios and outdoor seating: include furniture, planters and stored items in the preparation plan.
- Siding and trim: photograph shaded or visibly dirty areas and identify the material and existing finish.

Coordinate Cleaning Around Household Routines

Ask which areas will be in use during cleaning, what you should move beforehand and when vehicles or furniture can be returned. Keep children and pets away from the active work area and follow the team’s site-specific directions.
If the project includes multiple surfaces, ask for each area to be listed in the estimate. A narrow first phase may suit your schedule better than trying to complete every exterior task at once. Discuss the forecast and how a weather change would affect the appointment.
Set Realistic Expectations Before Booking
Cleaning methods should fit the surface and existing finish. Point out cracks, loose paint, damaged siding and persistent stains. Cleaning does not repair those conditions, and not every mark will disappear. Ask whether special stain treatment is included rather than assuming it is part of a general wash.
